At Essex X-ray we believe that doing good for the planet goes hand in hand with doing good business. Sustainability is not just a trend, it’s a responsibility we are taking seriously.

From the materials we source, to the way we operate, we’re committed to making choices that reduce our environmental impact. We are looking for ways to improve, whether that means using more eco-friendly packaging, controlling incoming packaging, or supporting ethical supply chains.

As we grow, so does our commitment to support a more sustainable future for everyone.

What we are working on:

  • Reducing our carbon footprint
  • Choosing sustainable materials and suppliers
  • Minimising waste and promoting recycling
  • Prioritising quality over quantity

We are not perfect – but we are proactive and we are excited to bring you along on our journey!

Future Sustainability

Our fit-out M&E installation at the HVT Centre is ongoing, as we work towards completion, inspection and commissioning. The building design and construction has been granted an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating ‘A’, which is a fantastic achievement for a facility of this size and underpins our wider environmental policy.
A large array of roof mounted photovoltaic solar panels totalling 260 square meters form part of this strategy and has a capacity to generate up to 275 kWh per day (1 kWh is equivalent to 10 x 100W bulbs running for an hour).

The design and construction of the new facility aspires to a high standard of sustainable design and operation. It will achieve a carbon emission reduction improvement over and above the Building Regulations Approved Document L2A requirements.

A minimum of 30% of the total projected energy demand, including that of the building, will be met through renewable energy technologies and high-performance energy systems. The development will incorporate an efficient ventilation system with heat recovery, as well as 100% low-energy lighting, managed by intelligent daylight and occupancy sensors to minimize wastage.

A comprehensive Building Management System (BMS) will be implemented to ensure the optimal and efficient operation of all building services. This system will actively monitor energy consumption, support the integration of renewable technologies, and maintain occupant comfort through adaptive environmental controls.
